NEF ‘13 Centuries of Bulgaria’ invited by UNESCO to take part in the International Conference of NGOs

The Fund is the only organisation in Bulgaria to enjoy the status of official relations with the world body

‘Breaking barriers: What role for civil society organisations towards a sustainable future?’—this is the theme of the international conference to which the ‘13 Centuries of Bulgaria’ National Endowment Fund has received an invitation.

The event, to be held in Paris from 14 to 16 December 2022, gathers all non-governmental organisations from around the globe that are in official partnership with UNESCO. The letter of invitation is signed by Mr Jean-Yves Le Saux, Director of the Bureau of Strategic Planning.

The status of official relations was bestowed by the international organisation on NEF ‘13 Centuries of Bulgaria’ for the first time in 2015. And in July 2022, it was renewed for another six years, until 2027.

It was awarded in accordance with the Directives concerning UNESCO’s relations with foundations and similar institutions approved by the General Conference at its 26th session, in pursuing goals that are in conformity with UNESCO’s ideals and with the ethical principles recognised by the international community, including those proclaimed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, in contributing to the implementation of UNESCO’s programme and goals, and carrying out activities in a spirit of international cooperation and mutual support and of respect for cultural identity.

The programme of the International Conference of NGOs includes thematic sessions on the topic of ‘Breaking barriers: What role for civil society organisations towards a sustainable future?’; the exchange of ideas regarding the work schedule for 2023–24; and an opportunity for participants to present their various activities.
