On 22 June 2023, the ‘13 Centuries of Bulgaria’ National Endowment Fund made two donations: one to the Multi-profile Hospital for Active Treatment, the other to the Municipality of Samokov.
The donation to the Samokov Hospital includes 10 copies of the novel ‘Dobry’, illustrated by the artist Atanas Katchamakoff, and 67 works from the World Children’s Drawing Competition. The books will be kept in the children’s ward at the hospital.
The donation to the Municipality of Samokov consists of 2,364 books, which will be distributed to all 26 community libraries in the region, as well as to 10 schools in the town. The books include publications of the Fund, among them ‘40 Years of NEF 13 Centuries of Bulgaria’ Donorship Mission’; the catalogue of the Fourth ‘River of Tolerance’ International Youth Art Festival; the ‘Contemporary Bulgarian Art. Names’ series, as well as current titles from St Kliment Ohridski University Press on contemporary scientific and fiction literature.
Ms Bisera Yosifova, Executive Director of the Fund, presented both donations at an official ceremony in the Sarafs’ House, which bears the status of immovable cultural heritage of national significance and is a regional centre of NEF ‘13 Centuries of Bulgaria’.
Dr Krasimira Kovachka, Manager of the Samokov Multi-profile Hospital, and Mr Vladimir Georgiev, Mayor of the Samokov Municipality, thanked for the generous donation and assured that it will reach everyone for whom it is intended.
