Ninth National Historical Competition of the foundation “Values”

On June 25, 2016, at the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies with ethnographic museum Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, “Knyaz Alexander I” Square, the awards from the ninth National Historical Competition were conferred. The National Endowment Fund “13 Centuries Bulgaria” for the third consecutive year is project partner.
The theme of this year’s contest is “Boundaries in history – Stories Without Borders”. With individual and group research studies, it was attended by122 students from all over the country.

First prize was awarded to the study “100-year history of a border in Dobrudzha” by a team from the secondary school “Yordan Yovkov”, Tervel, under the guidance of Rositsa Stratieva and Stoyka Marinova.
With second prize, they honored “Boundaries and bridges in the urban space. Examples from the history of Sliven”, with author Adelina Fendrina from high school “Dobri Chintulov”, Sliven, with scientific supervisor, Prof. DSc Ivan Rusev and “The Painted Brides “Gelina” in the village of Ribnovo; Invisible borders are the most resilient; For loving hearts, borders do not exist”, by author Ayret Terbesheva”, school “Druzhba”, Sofia, with a scientific director Todorka Todorova.
Third Prize was received by Daniel Vlahov and Yordan Danchev from school “Dobri Chintulov”, Sliven, with scientific leaders Tanya Elenska and Prof. DSc Ivan Rusev, for the study “Beyond the boundaries of an old inter-urban rivalry – Sliven and Yambol in the 19th and 20th centuries”; Yavor Genchev from National Apridowska High School, Gabrovo, with a scientific director Mrs. Penka Petrova, for “On a stone to knock, again, I shall feed you / the nationalization of 1947 and the fate of the leather factory “Botyu and Ivan Patevi”; Yana Voynova, NUK ,Gorna Banya, with scientific supervisor Malgojata Gaszinska, for “Borders before the border: prohibited areas in the border areas under Socialism”.
