28 novels, all published in 2023, were submitted to the 2024 competition for Bulgarian Novel of the Year, organised by the ‘13 Centuries of Bulgaria’ National Endowment Fund.
Today, 12 April 2023, the jury, whose names will be kept secret until the day of the award ceremony, announced the six nominated works and their authors.
These are the novels:
‘Volcano’, by Elena Alexieva, Janet-45 Print and Publishing;
‘Ecstasis’, by Radoslav Bimbalove, Ciela Norma AD;
‘Home for Beginners’, by Emanuil A. Vidinski, Janet-45 Print and Publishing;
‘I Don’t Know You’, by Theodora Dimova, Ciela Norma AD;
‘Wound’, by Zahari Karabashliev, Ciela Norma AD;
‘Yozhi Lives Here’, by Nadezhda Radulova, Janet-45 Print and Publishing.
Writers and publishers of novels that appear in the year preceding the award ceremony are eligible.
With this contest, the 13 Centuries of Bulgaria’ National Endowment Fund promotes and popularises contemporary Bulgarian fiction.
The award ceremony will take place at 5:30 p.m., on 10 May, at the Sredets Gallery of the Ministry of Culture.
