On 3 June 2022, at 5 p.m., the National Literature Museum presents an exhibition: ‘Let everyone in the world see that the Bulgarian people are alive!’, at the Gabenski Gallery of the ‘13 Centuries of Bulgaria’ National Endowment Fund in Tryavna.
The documentary exposition of 18 roll-up banners highlights the most significant periods in the development of Bulgarian cultural history, including the creation of the Glagolitic alphabet by the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius; the translations into the Old Bulgarian language of the Holy Scriptures, which marked in Bulgaria the introduction of literature of European and worldwide significance; the appearance of the Cyrillic alphabet, which originated in the Preslav Literary School; the first Bulgarian National Revivalists dedicated to the struggle for modern education, for spiritual and political independence… Insights from the life and work of Petko R. Slaveykov (1827–1895), poet, journalist, minister, publisher, are included, with Slaveykov’s Bible, whose complete translation was published in 1871 under his supervision, also on display.
