The International Biennale of Glass (IBG) collection comprises some 200 glass works by artists from around the world who have, over the years, taken part in previous editions of the Biennale. This collection is unique to Bulgaria, the outcome of the artists’ long-term efforts and dedication to the art of glass, presented across a spectrum of styles, techniques and creative visions.
On 20 September 2024, the opening of the first permanent exhibition featuring a diverse selection of works from the International Biennale of Glass collection, owned by the ART REAL K.L.M., will take place in Tryavna at the Gabenski Gallery of the ‘13 Centuries of Bulgaria’ National Endowment Fund.
The exhibition will showcase 100 items donated by artists from 45 countries who have taken part in the biennales held between 2017 and 2023. Each artwork is part of the living history of this significant international project and reflects the individual artistic approaches and cultural influences of its creator.
The exhibition was made possible thanks to the cooperation between the ‘13 Centuries of Bulgaria’ National Endowment Fund and the ART REAL K.L.M. Association, the main organiser of IBG, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria. The joint initiative not only provides a venue for the presentation of exceptional artworks, but also stimulates dialogue and an exchange of ideas between artists in the world of contemporary art glass. With its variety of forms and styles, the exhibition at the Gabenski Gallery of the NEF ‘13 Centuries Bulgaria’ in Tryavna highlights high artistic achievements while offering visitors the opportunity to learn about glass art and appreciate its role in modern culture.
