NEF ‘13 Centuries of Bulgaria’ challenges Bulgarian writers abroad

The ‘Contemporary Bulgarian Fiction Without Borders’ Competition aims to contribute to the enrichment of the national written treasury with works created abroad

This initiative of the ‘13 Centuries of Bulgaria’ National Endowment Fund—the ‘Contemporary Bulgarian Fiction Without Borders’ Competition—challenges the inspiration of Bulgarian writers abroad. The goal of the patriotic organisation with its forty-year history is to support creativity in the native language, be it in poetry or prose, without geographical confines.

According to the regulations of the creative contest, Bulgarian communities, cultural clubs, or associations of writers from the respective country may nominate authors from our diaspora, in three categories: a novel/short story, a collection of short stories, or a poetry anthology.

The jury will select only one work in each category. The award of BGN 3,000 provided by NEF ‘13 Centuries of Bulgaria’ will be invested in the publication of the work by St Kliment Ohridski University Press.

The NEF ‘13 Centuries of Bulgaria’ Management Council has approved the application conditions for the competition, and they can be viewed here:
