On 30 March 2021, Prof. Dr Valentin Obretenov, a longtime lecturer at the Department of Hydro-aerodynamics and Hydraulic Machines at the Technical University, and a friend of the Fund, has died.

Prof. Dr Valentin Obretenov was the successor to Prof. Vasil Gerov, one of the founders of the Technical University in Sofia and a donor to NEF ‘13 Centuries of Bulgaria’, and a student in his final class. The author of numerous textbooks, books, and an inventor, he supported the Fund’s initiatives and causes. We have lost a highly respected professional and a person of proven public authority.
