NEF ‘13 Centuries of Bulgaria’ donates 50 copies of the novel, ‘Dobry’, to the Palace of Children

The ‘13 Centuries of Bulgaria’ National Endowment Fund donated 50 copies of the novel, ‘Dobry’, to the Children’s Palace in Sofia. Some of the books will be given to the library, and the rest will serve as awards for young talents.

‘On behalf of the Fund, I attended the awarding ceremony of the laureates of the three competitions of the Executive Agency for Bulgarians Abroad—the 26th Stefan Gechev Literary Contest; the 21st ‘Bulgaria in My Dreams’ drawing contests; and the 13th Lyubka Rondova Singing Competition—under the patronage of Vice President Iliana Yotova.’

After the ceremony, we spoke to Tatyana Doseva, Director of the Children’s Palace, said Slava Ivanova, the Fund’s Executive Director. She added: ‘We discussed possibilities for our organisations to implement joint projects. The novel, ‘Dobry’, written by Monica Shannon and illustrated by Atanas Katchamakoff, was also mentioned and the idea of donating 50 copies for additional prizes in competitions for gifted children organised by the Palace, arose spontaneously. With this act of donation, once again the American bestseller published by the Fund fulfilled its task of reaching as many Bulgarians as possible, both in Bulgaria and around the world,’ concluded Slava Ivanova.
