In 2023, Plamak [Flame] magazine celebrates 100 years since its foundation by Geo Milev, Anton Strashimirov, Lamar, and other major Bulgarian writers.
NEF ‘13 Centuries of Bulgaria’ is supporting the printing of the magazine’s two jubilee issues. One is primarily devoted to the oeuvre and activities of the Bulgarian poet and publicist, Geo Milev. It publishes literary documents, memoirs by and about the writer, along with translations and drawings from his multifarious work.
The other issue features the scores of writers who have contributed to Plamak over the years, with an emphasis on the magazine’s second period, from 1957 to the present. Among the authors featured are Elisaveta Bagryana, Dora Gabe, Atanas Dalchev, Dimitar Dimov, Valeri Petrov, Yordan Radichkov, Hristo Fotev, and Konstantin Pavlov.
For decades, it has been thanks to the notable Bulgarian poet Georgi Konstantinov that such a historic publication continues to exist.
