Hristo Botev Bulgarian School Association in Augsburg, supported by NEF ‘13 Centuries of Bulgaria’, completes its project
‘Melodies of the Bulgarian Speech’ is a project of the Hristo Botev Bulgarian School Association in Augsburg, Germany, that won support from NEF ‘13 Centuries of Bulgaria’.
Announced by the Fund, the session titled ‘“Sacred Language of My Forebears…”: Let Us Support Bulgarian Language Learning in Sunday Schools Abroad’ provides an opportunity for the association to implement its project.
‘Melodies of the Bulgarian Speech’ offers pupils between Years 5 and 10 a sliver of the diversity and richness of the Bulgarian language. It gives youngsters a chance to show their love for their native language, to read more in Bulgarian, and awakens the desire to compose their own texts in Bulgarian.
The event included general and individual literary readings. Pupils were able to perform as they presented excerpts from all the works read in the final stage—the performance titled ‘My Favourite Excerpt—My Choice’. A Master Class was also organised: with the assistance of a Bulgarian actor, a complete piece for a stage performance was merged together from the selected texts—‘Melodies of the Bulgarian Speech’, in three parts: poetry, prose, music and dance. This is a way to emphasise the expressiveness of Bulgarian words and for pupils to learn how best to convey them to the audience, and how to skilfully use our Bulgarian language in all its forms.
A short collection of the extracts selected for the performance is to be published.
