On 10 December 2024, the artist Rumen Atanasov presented his exhibition of paintings, ‘Artist, Light, Nature’, at the Prof. Vasil Gerov Hall of NEF ‘13 Centuries of Bulgaria’. It includes 26 works the artist produced over the past four years.
Assoc. Prof. Boris Danailov opened the exhibition with a résumé of the artist’s oeuvre.
The title of the exhibition speaks of the artist’s love of nature. The picturesque landscapes were inspired by Rumen Atanasov’s travels around the country. The artist is known among his colleagues for the fact that he always paints from life, never making use of sketches.
Assoc. Prof. Dimo Kolibarov said of the artist: ‘Rumen and I have known each other since our days at the art school in Plovdiv. Then we enrolled in the same class at the National Academy of Arts, and we were both pupils of Academician Svetlin Rusev. He is an incredible artist.’
