On 31 October 2026, on the eve of the Day of the National Enlighteners, the Gubenski Gallery in Tryavna hosted the presentation of Todor Sharlandzhiev’s book, ‘A Contribution to the History of Tryavna and the Tryavna Region’.
The author presented his comprehensive work, the fruit of many years of researching, discovering documents, and collecting findings and artefacts. A historian by education, public figure, and former mayor of Tryavna, Todor Sharlandzhiev has dedicated most of his life to exploring his native region. Thanks to his book, the material gathered over the years is now accessible to anyone wishing to learn more about the history of the town and its surrounding settlements.
At the event, Nasko Yakimov, representing the Slavena Publishing House in Varna, spoke about the book’s production, while Daniela Dabkova, curator at the Specialist Museum of Woodcarving and Icon Painting in Tryavna, presented its contents and discussed its significance for the preservation of local history. The author shared the story behind the book’s conception, recounted the challenges and curiosities encountered over the years of his research, and talked about future publications he was currently preparing.
The event brought together four Tryavna mayors who have been in office over the past 20 years—Dragomir Nikolov, Doncho Zahariev, Silviya Krasteva, and incumbent Dencho Minev—as well as municipal councillors and many citizens who came to express their respect for the author and his work. Kristina Sidorova, Regional Governor of Gabrovo, was also among the guests.
