Participants to the First Bulgarian-Hungarian Rectors’ Forum in Samokov Visit the Sarafs’ House of NEF ‘13 Centuries of Bulgaria’

On 20 January 2026, at the Sarafs’ House of NEF ‘13 Centuries of Bulgaria’, a meeting was held between Eng. Angel Dzhorgov, Mayor of Samokov Municipality and representatives of the Council of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions in Bulgaria and the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference, dedicated to the opportunities for establishing a higher education institution or university branch in Samokov.

 

The meeting was attended by H.E. Miklós Boros, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to Bulgaria; Dr Yordan Bochkov, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Bulgaria in Hungary, and participants in the First Bulgarian-Hungarian Rectors’ Forum, held on 20–21 January in the town.

 

The forum was organised by the Council of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions in Bulgaria, in partnership with the Municipality of Samokov, the Regional Development Council of Samokov, and the Commercial and Economic Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Hungary. The event was attended by rectors from leading universities in Bulgaria and Hungary, and by Krasimir Valchev, Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Bulgaria.

 

The guests visited the Sarafs’ House, the most imposing architectural and cultural asset in the region, and were acquainted with its history.
