The ‘Contemporary Bulgarian Fiction Without Borders’ competition, initiated by the ‘13 Centuries of Bulgaria’ National Endowment Fund, is intended for Bulgarian writers abroad. The aim of this charitable organisation with its 40-year history is, through poetry and fiction, to support creativity in the native tongue without geographical confines.
According to the regulations of this creative contest, Bulgarian communities, cultural clubs, or associations of authors in the respective country should nominate authors in one of three categories: novel/short story; collection of short stories; anthology of poetry.
The jury will select only one literary work in each category.
The prize constitutes the publishing of the three successful works in Bulgaria by the St Kliment Ohridski University Press, as NEF ‘13 Centuries of Bulgaria’ will underwrite the printing of each winner to a limit of BGN 3,000.
The NEF ‘13 Centuries of Bulgaria’ Management Council has approved the application conditions for the competition, and they can be viewed HERE:
The competition is jointly organised by the Administration of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria and the ‘13 Centuries of Bulgaria’ National Endowment Fund.
The goals of the literary contest are to support creativity in the Bulgarian language without geographical confines; to patronise the publication of poems and fiction awarded by a competent jury; to promote the diaspora’s literary works both in Bulgaria and among Bulgarians around the world; and to help preserve Bulgarian literature, traditions, culture, and language.
The application deadline—30 June—is drawing near. Do not wait until the last minute!
