On 15 September 2026, Primary School No. 204, the first newly founded school in the capital in the past 30 years, will open its doors.
The school was built by the Sofia Municipality thanks to a donation from the ‘13 Centuries of Bulgaria’ National Endowment Fund.
In 2020, in fulfilment of its philanthropic mission, NEF ‘13 Centuries of Bulgaria’ made a major donation to Sofia Municipality by transferring, free of charge, the ownership rights to the land plot (6,500 sq.m.) on which the school building was constructed. This donation was the largest made by the Fund in the last decade.
The donation was made in response to a request from Sofia Municipality for NEF ‘13 Centuries of Bulgaria’ to support the municipality’s efforts to provide the necessary childcare and educational facilities in the Vitosha District.
Pursuant to a decision by the Fund’s Management Council, an agreement was concluded between the two institutions, with the Fund making the donation subject to the explicit condition that Sofia Municipality constructed a school, a kindergarten, and a multifunctional hall for the benefit of the community.
