The Hadji Dancho’s Houses Complex, with the status of museum since 2007, consists of three buildings in the National Revivalist style characteristic of the region and is located in the central part of the town. It hosts a permanent ethnographic exhibition of old Viennese furniture and typical Sliven woodcarving. The original carpets of Kotel are authentic evidence of the material and spiritual culture of the Bulgarians of this region.

The renowned Revivalist merchant and Sliven benefactor, Hadji Dancho, decorated his home with rich wood-carved ceilings and alafranga niches. His full-length portrait, painted by an unknown Tryavna master in one of those niches, is a sign of his high public prestige.

The complex organises exhibitions, performances, literary meetings, seminars and other cultural events.

Opening hours: on prior request.
