New Year issue of the Vazovcheta newspaper produced by the Hristo Botev Association in Paris, supported by NEF ‘13 Centuries of Bulgaria’ through its session on Bulgarian native language

The Hristo Botev Association in Paris applied with a project for a New Year issue of the Vazovcheta newspaper to the Fund’s session titled ‘“Sacred Language of My Forebears…”: Let Us Support Bulgarian Language Learning in Sunday Schools Abroad’.

The Ivan Vazov Bulgarian Sunday School in Paris was founded in 2014. It educates 160 pupils between 6 and 18 years of age. The school has published its own, Vazovcheta [Small Vazovians], newspaper for the past three years. This project aims to distribute the newspaper’s New Year issue to more children—not only pupils at the Ivan Vazov School, but also those who attend the other four Bulgarian schools in Paris, as well as other Sunday schools abroad.

Vazovcheta is edited by pupils on the journalism and creative writing course at the Ivan Vazov School. It features literary works by children from the school, friends and guests of the respective issue from various Bulgarian Sunday schools abroad, but also from Bulgaria. For the first time, the New Year issue of the newspaper features works illustrated by children in the fine arts studio at the Bulgarian Sunday School.
